Not working on latest 1000H BIOS 2204

Added by Adi A. 4 months ago

Hello there,

As you may be aware Asus released new BIOSes with Windows 7 support.
Unfortunately this update breaks the eeepc-laptop module (at least on my EeePC 1000H).
When I try to insert the eeepc-laptop module I got:

  1. modprobe eeepc-laptop

FATAL: Error inserting eeepc_laptop (/lib/modules/2.6.32-rc5_EeePC1000H/kernel/drivers/platform/x86/eeepc-laptop.ko): No such device

Before the update the module worked perfectly. Oh, almost forgot: the Fn keys are working under Windows 7 so I can exclude a hardware problem.

My 'setup':
- EeePC 1000H
- BIOS 2204, changelog (from ASUS website): 2009/10/26 - Support Windows 7
- Kernel 2.6.32-rc5

Any idea?

Thanks,
Adi

You need to boot with acpi_osi=Linux .
The real solution would be a create a new driver for newer bios, but I don't have a 1005ha, you can donate to acpi4asus to help me get one.
