DSDT Dumping

Added by Anonymous about 1 year ago

Hi,

I have an ASUS X50R (Basically a rebadged F5V I think), as well as possible access to an F5VL, and acpi4asus doesnt seem to be able to control either of them.

Can you tell me how to dump the DSDT and I can upload it and provide whatever help is needed to get these working!

Cheers,
Sam

Hi,
I created a wiki entry for you http://dev.iksaif.net/projects/acpi4asus/wiki/Dumping_dsdt ;)

Can you give more information on what works and what doesn't works on your laptops ?

Thanks,

Hi,

Thanks for adding that to the Wiki

I have created a Bug (#8) for the X50R as I've managed to get it mostly working now.. (its detected as an F5 by the kernel driver)

The only thing so far that I cant get to work is the backlight hotkeys which don't generate any events.

I've followed the instructions from the Wiki and attached the DSDT dump to that bug report as well, there is also an OpenOffice document with the details of exactly what happens when each hotkey/button is pressed, including some hotkeys that exist but are not marked on the keyboard as functions.

The F5 I have access to is my girlfriends one (F5VL MB:F5VL) and runs windows but I will have a go and see what works in linux on that and report back, I'd be interested to see if the backlight controls work on that one. (I'm guessing they won't but I can't be sure)

The X50R is actually a strange machine. It's marked as Model:X50R MB:F5V, and above the keyboard it says "Asus F5 Entertainment System" and looks almost identical to an F5, so I think it is reasonable to detect it as an F5.
