Description

I have updated my eeepc 1000 from 2.6.38 to 3.0.4 and switched from eeepc-laptop to eeepc-wmi.
Now the hotkeys for the sound no longer work, but I can set it via the UI.
Also bluetooth cannot be enabled and even not via the UI.

The dimming of the screen and the suspend work with the hotkeys.

For the hotkeys:
- Switch to a tty and run "showkey", press the key, see if something appear on the screen.
- Do the same thing with "xev" on Xorg
- Check dmesg to see if it complains about unmapped keys

For bluetooth, check /sys/class/rfkill for something related to bluetooth, or try to play with the "rfkill" command line utility and see if it can help you.

The hotkeys don't log anything to showkey and neither to xev. There were also no lines in dmesg for this.

In /sys/class/rfkill/rfkill1/* and with the rfkill tool it states that the bluetooth device is not blocked, but the device is not functional.

    Hard blocked: no

The output of acpidump is attached.

Hum, Could you also send me:
- the output of tree /sys/platform/eeepc*
- dmesg

Then, reboot with acpi_osi=Linux, check if it still takes a long time to load, a send me the same files.
Thanks :)

The ouput with eeepci-wmi and no kernel parameters set

1ls /sys/platform/eeepc*
2ls: cannot access /sys/platform/eeepc*: No such file or directory

Not even the platform folder is there.

The same scenario with the parameter enabled.

I only have the issue with the slow boot, with the old eeepc-laptop driver. This eeepc-wmi boots fast.

Hum, it's very strange, it seems that neither eeepc-laptop or eeepc-wmi are loaded. Could you check that both module are built ? (the right one will be loaded automatically depending on your bios or configuration).

I have attached my kernel config. The eeepc-wmi-only is the one used for the dmesg dumps. THe second one is compiled with additionally the eeepc-laptop but without i2c-801 enabled.

Well, I just got the time to read the DSDT... And it seems it doesn't support WMI. What is your BIOS version ? 1003 or later ?

Yes, I have the latest BIOS with version 1003.

Then, if you confirm that the acpidump was done with this bios, it doesn't support eeepc-wmi (which is strange because all modem with windows 7 support should, and I know that eeepc 1000H does).

So, you are stuck with eeepc-laptop, could you try eeepc-laptop with you current kernel ?

Yes (almost) everything works fine with eeepc-laptop except for the problem in #198.
